Koggala Beach
Koggala beach is a beautiful place in the sourthern area of Sri Lanka. It is a perfect tropical beach to spend your leisure time. Different coloured seashells bring beauty to the beach. Mangroves are also found in abandance in this environment. There is a place in the beach surrounded by a reef with safe waters, making it a very desiarable place to swim but, if you are a surfer looking for challenging waves Koggala makes a perfect surfing spot with frequent waves.
You will get to see a method of fishing called stilt fishing. The fishermen fish while staying on top of a thin wooden structure for a long time, this method is effective because the fish don't notice the fishermen.
Near the beach is the large natural Koggala lake which has eight small islands. The most famous island is the "Madol Doowa" which was featured in the famous novel "Madol doowa" by Martin Wickramasinghe. You can visit some of them when you take a boat ride.
Dalawella
Just a few kilometers away from Koggala, is a marvelous beach in Unawatuna called Dalawella. Here in the beach there is a swing that is tied to a coconut tree. This swing is very famous on Instagram as it is perfect for a click! The infamous swing can be found near the "Dream Cabana". A bit away from it is the "ship rock" which also famous place to capture photographs. You can climb on it during sunset and get some epic Insta-perfect sunset photos.
You can also rent snorkelling equipment and see some turtles and swim among them. Here it is also a nesting place for turtles. The locals collect and protect the eggs that are laid on the beach for protection and once they are hatched you can participate in releasing baby turtles to the sea.
Pasikuda
Pasikuda is situated in the eastern coast of the country near Batticaloa. The sand at this beach is soft and also Pasikuda is a natural a hourseshoe bay with shallow waters allowing you to safely swim in the bay's glimmering water.
At sunset the environment is soaked with red sun light painting an amazing and perfect sunset for your eyes to feast upon.The bay is also famous for water sports like surfing, kite surfing, snorkelling, sailing and jet skiing.
